History of Apex
Apex Trampoline Club started out in 1987 as the Somersault Club based at the Cotswold Sports Centre in Tilehurst. As the club members grew (as did the club) we moved from the small sports hall (which had an alarmingly low roof) to the main hall.
We stayed in the main hall for quite a few years bouncing on two half-inch beds when Dugald Davidson (the founder of the club) was joined by Carole Giffiths who helped coach the now much larger club.
We then moved to Rivermead Leisure Centre, and then to the Meadway Sports centre and got use of our first real competition trampoline. This continued for some time and for a while the club ran a Gymnastics Course alongside the trampolining.
The opportunity then came for us to move to Loddon Valley Leisure Centre which had recently been built and contained 4 new 6mm competition trampolines.
Carole then left the club to pursue something completely different and the job of coaching was taken over by some of the older members of the club.
The club has recently been able to train alongside Reading Trampoline Club on competition trampolines, so some of the sessions have been moved to Crosfields School.
Apex has always had competitive roots with an annual club competition being run from the very first year right to the present day. Local invitational and National competitions have always been well attended with many competitors coming home with medals.
The club has many faithful members who have grown up with the sport, many who have gone on to get qualifications in judging and teaching when their competitive careers have ended.
For those who don't want to compete there is no pressure, however so many members enjoy it that you may find yourself joining in!
We are always on the look out for new members whether you just want to get/keep fit or want to go on to become the next national champion so pop down to one of our sessions and chat to the coaches and members.

Dugalds qualification in Trampolining is up to the standard of High Performance Coach, and he is in the process of taking his International Performance Coaching award. This will mean he will become one of a select few that are able to teach the most complex moves currently being done and attempted by some of the best performers in the country.
